DIRECTIONS AND PARKING

The Council of Governments Offices are at 99 Main Street, Northampton, bounded by Main, Gothic, and King Streets. A picture of the building is in the upper left corner of this page.

To enter after 4:30 PM, use the front steps. Before 4:30, turn onto Gothic Street and enter through 15 Gothic Street, the court building directly behind the Council of Governments. Ask the security guard for directions to the Council of Governments' offices.

Wheelchair entrance:
Daytime access
before 4:30: Use the courthouse security entrance at 15 Gothic Street. Follow the signs to the Hampshire Council of Governments. Do not turn around in the elevator; press the button for Level 4 (2S) and go straight through to exit opposite the door you entered Continue through the link walkway into the Old Courthouse.
Evening wheelchair access: Please call ahead to arrange for an accessible entrance: 413-584-1300 ext 2.

From the Mass Pike: Take the Mass Turnpike (I-90) to Exit 4 (I-91). Take I-91 North to Exit 18 (Northampton/Rt. 5). Follow parking directions below.
From Route 2: Take Rt. 2 to I-91. Take I-91 South to Exit 18 (Northampton/Rt. 5). Follow parking directions below.

From Interstate 91, take Exit 18, Northampton Center.
At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Pleasant Street (Rt. 5).
Turn left onto either Hampton or Armory.
You will see a parking garage in front of you.
On the third level of the garage is a walkway to Thornes Market.
Walk through Thornes Market to Main Street.
Cross the street and turn right. Look for the Richardsonian building pictured on our home page and in the upper left corner of this page.

Parking:
The E.J. Gare Parking Garage on Hampton Avenue is the most reliable place to find parking. The first hour is free, after that it’s 50 cents an hour. Take a card at the gate. When you return to the garage, pay at the machine on the third level walkway to Thornes Market before going to your car.
On-street parking surrounding the Council offices can be difficult to find. Meters are checked regularly and promptly until 6:00 PM. Maximum parking times vary by location.
