DIRECTIONS AND PARKING

The Council of Governments Offices
are located at 99 Main Street, Northampton, and bounded by Main, Gothic, and King Streets. A picture of the building is in the upper left corner of this page.

From the Mass Pike:
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) to Exit 4 (I-91). Take I-91 North to Exit 18 (Rt. 5). Follow directions below for parking.

From Route 2:
Take Rt. 2 to I-91. Take I-91 South to Exit 18 (Rt. 5). Follow directions below for parking.

Parking: Long-term parking is available at the E.J. Gare Parking Garage located on Hampton Avenue in Northampton. Parking rates are 50 cents an hour for the first three (3) hours and 30 cents an hour after that. Parking must be paid in advance. Drive in and park, then purchase a ticket at one of the computerized machines inside the garage and put it on your car as instructed on the ticket.

In addition, short-term parking is available along the Courthouse on Gothic Street and King Street. On-street parking is often difficult to find. Meters are checked regularly until 6:00 PM. Rates and maximum parking times vary by location.

From Interstate 91, take Exit 18, Northampton Center.
At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Pleasant Street (Rt. 5).
Turn left onto either Hampton or Armory.
You will see a parking garage in front of you.
On the third level of the garage is a walkway to Thornes Market.
Walk through Thornes Market to Main Street.
Cross the street and turn right. Look for the Richardsonian building pictured on our home page and in the upper left corner of this page.

To enter after 4:30 PM use the front steps.

Before 4:30, turn left on Gothic Street and enter through 15 Gothic Street, the court building directly behind the Council of Governments. Ask the security guard for directions to the Council of Governments' offices.

Handicap Accessibility

Daytime wheelchair access: Use the courthouse security entrance at 15 Gothic Street. Follow the signs to the Hampshire Council of Governments. Do not turn around in the elevator; press the button for Level 4 (2S) and go straight through to exit opposite the door you entered. Continue following signs through the link walkway into the Old Courthouse.

Evening wheelchair access: Please call ahead to arrange for an accessible entrance: 413-584-1300 ext 2.
